9-Benzylcarbazole is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon that belongs to the class of amides. It is a precursor for the synthesis of other compounds, such as polymers and dyes, and can be obtained by reacting benzaldehyde with sodium cyanide. 9-Benzylcarbazole has been shown to have a high molecular weight and a low solubility in organic solvents. This compound has been used in the synthesis of oriented polymers, which can be used as electrochemical materials. 9-Benzylcarbazole has also been shown to have photophysical properties that are different from those of its isomers.
