Bis(triphenylphosphine)cobalt (II) chloride is a coordination compound that is synthesized in the lab. It has been shown to have cleavage activity, and homogeneous catalytic properties. Bis(triphenylphosphine)cobalt (II) chloride coordinates to the metal ion through two chelate ligands, which are the allylamine and chloride. This coordination geometry is octahedral. Bis(triphenylphosphine)cobalt (II) chloride has significant antioxidant activity, as it can remove free radicals from other molecules. It also has significant anti-cancer properties due to its ability to kill cancer cells by causing DNA breakage and inhibiting tumor growth. The overpotential of Bis(triphenylphosphine)cobalt (II) chloride is high enough for it to be used in a fuel cell in future research.
