5-Bromo-2-chloroaniline is an industrial chemical that is used as a boronic acid reagent in organic synthesis. It can be prepared by the reaction of trimethyl borate with 2-chloroaniline. The optimal conditions for this reaction are to use a grignard reagent and borate as the starting materials, and to perform the reaction at low temperature. This product has been shown to be an efficient target product for diazotization and boronic esterification reactions. 5-Bromo-2-chloroaniline hydrolyzes readily, so it should be stored in a cool place or under nitrogen gas to prevent degradation.
