5-Bromo-2-fluorobenzotrifluoride is a monomer that has been used in the synthesis of polyethers, polysiloxanes, and silicone resins. It can be synthesized from bromoacetic acid and dibromofluoroethane. The functional group present on this molecule is fluorine. This molecule is nucleophilic, which means it can react with electrophiles such as proton, sulfuric acid, or boronic acids. 5-Bromo-2-fluorobenzotrifluoride can be used to produce polyethers and polysiloxanes by reacting with polyethylene glycols or polypropylene glycols.
