7-Bromo-9H-fluoren-2-amine is a constant analog of the naturally occurring hormone progesterone. It is used in biological studies as a fluorescence probe for the study of progesterone receptor. 7-Bromo-9H-fluoren-2-amine has been shown to have efficient absorption and emission spectra, as well as photophysical properties. This compound has been shown to enhance the fluorescence of other molecules, such as amines, which may be due to its ability to act as an energy transfer agent. This chemical has also been shown to be pharmacokinetically active and increase the fluorescence emissions from cells in culture.
