3'-Benzyloxy-4',5,6,7-tetramethoxyflavone is a bioactive compound that exhibits antiinflammatory and anticancer activities. It has been shown to suppress the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-8, and TNFα in vitro. 3'-Benzyloxy-4',5,6,7-tetramethoxyflavone also has anticancer activity against colon cancer cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis via the inhibition of protein kinase A (PKA). This compound is found at relatively high levels in plants such as Cinnamomum verum (cinnamon) and Cymbopogon citratus (lemongrass). 3'-Benzyloxy-4',5,6,7-tetramethoxyflavone can be identified using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis of plant extracts.
