Descripción:Benzyl(4-bromophenyl)sulphide is an organic compound that is a peroxide. It can be produced by the oxidation of benzyl alcohol with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of catalysts such as iron (III) chloride and manganese dioxide. The reaction yields sulfoxides, which are intermediates in the synthesis of other organic compounds. The reaction is laborious, but it can be carried out on a large scale using continuous flow chemistry and has been successfully used to synthesize chiral compounds.A number of methods have been developed for the recovery of benzyl(4-bromophenyl)sulphide from the reaction mixture, including liquid-liquid extraction and distillation.
