Descripción:3-Bromo-5-chlorophenol is a pyridone, which is an organic compound with a heterocyclic ring and two adjacent oxygen atoms. 3-Bromo-5-chlorophenol is one of the major products in the oxidation of 3-bromo-5-methylphenol. It is also used as a reagent for the synthesis of boronic esters. When combined with a boronic acid, it forms a boronate ester, which can be used to make other organic compounds. 3-Bromo-5-chlorophenol has been shown to inhibit viral strains such as influenza A virus and human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV). The anti-viral activity may be due to its ability to bind to nucleic acids.
