Descripción:3-Bromo-5-methylphenol is an enolate that can be used to synthesize methicillin-resistant dibenzofurans. The synthesis of these compounds is a multistep process, which includes the formation of an enolate from 3-bromo-5-methylphenol and subsequent displacement with a variety of electrophiles. The use of 3-bromo-5-methylphenol as an enolate allows for high yields in the synthesis of dibenzofurans. Further, this compound has antibacterial properties and is effective against both gram positive and negative bacteria. 3-Bromo-5-methylphenol also has chloride and sulfonation properties, which have been used to make advances in the development of antibacterial agents.
