Descripción:3-Bromo-4-chlorophenol (3BCP) is a halogenated phenolic compound that is used as a preservative in the food industry. It is also used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries for polymerization reactions and to produce other chemicals such as chlorinated hydrocarbons. 3BCP has been shown to inhibit the growth of organisms by binding to their receptors, which can be deformed and thus not function properly. The affinity of 3BCP for these receptors can be rationalized by its chemical nature, which includes chlorine atoms that are nucleophilic and can form hydrogen bonds with other molecules. 3BCP has two isomers: 3-bromo-4-chlorophenol and 4-bromo-3-chlorophenol, each with different effects on organisms.
