• Descripción: 2-Butoxyacetic acid (2BA) is a biocide that is used to prevent microbial growth in industrial processes. It has been shown to inhibit cellular transformation in vitro and in vivo. 2BA can also be used as a solvent and process optimization agent. Chronic exposure of rats to 2BA has been shown to cause liver injury, and the toxic effects of this chemical have been observed in humans with high occupational exposure. The genotoxic activity of 2BA has been evaluated using an in vitro assay on cultured human lymphocytes, which showed that it was not genotoxic at concentrations up to 10 mM.
