5-Benzotriazolecarboxylic acid is an acidic cross-linking agent that functions as a hydrogen bond donor. It has been used in modelling and analysis of human serum, as well as in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy to study the interaction between 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid and polymeric matrix. 5-Benzotriazolecarboxylic acid has also been shown to be effective for removing uric acid from urine samples. It is capable of reacting with nucleophiles such as proton and 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid. This agent can produce fluorescence properties when exposed to light at a wavelength of 350 nm.
