Tert-Butyl 4-fluorobenzoate is a chemical compound that catalyzes the arylation of tert-butyl amines with glycinamide ribonucleotides. It has been shown to be cytotoxic to human lymphoma cells and has been used in the treatment of this cancer. Tert-Butyl 4-fluorobenzoate is also a potent inhibitor of thymidylate synthase, which is an enzyme that prevents DNA replication by synthesizing deoxyuridine monophosphate from uridine monophosphate. Tert-Butyl 4-fluorobenzoate is capable of forming cyclocondensation products with a variety of carbonyl compounds and has been used in the synthesis of regiospecific pyrrolidines.
