Descripción:
Benzyl trifluoromethyl sulfide (BTS) is a clear, colorless liquid that has a sweet smell. It is readily soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, acetonitrile, carbon tetrachloride, and chloroform. The boiling point of BTS is 128°C and its melting point is -12°C. BTS has been used for the production of polymers and resins. It can be prepared by the reaction of benzyl chloride with hydrogen fluoride or chlorine.
