2,5-Bis(2-fluorophenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole is a pyridine that has been shown to have insecticidal activity. It is efficient against a wide range of insects such as mosquitoes, flies, and cockroaches. 2,5-Bis(2-fluorophenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole has been shown to be more effective than other compounds against mosquitoes (Culex quinquefasciatus) by exhibiting high yields and efficiencies. In addition, the compound exhibits good nucleophilic properties and can be prepared in high yield from tert-butyl nitrite with fluorine gas. It also has a transition state that is more stable than the reactant state. The reaction mechanism for this compound's insecticidal activity is not well understood.
