Bis(trifluoromethyl)arsanyl-bis(trifluoromethyl)arsane (BTA-BT) is a metal carbonyl that can be prepared by the reaction of benzene and dimethylarsine in the presence of a base. BTA-BT is thermodynamically unstable, but it can be stabilized by adding other ligands such as phosphines or amines. The spectra of BTA-BT have been obtained from magnetic resonance spectroscopy and show the presence of two different types of molecules: mononuclear (L-type) and dimerized (D-type). Irradiation with UV light leads to the formation of D-type molecules, which are also more stable than L-type molecules.
