9-Borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonyl trifluoromethanesulfonate is an antibacterial agent that has been shown to be a broad-spectrum antibiotic with a stereoselective mechanism of action. 9-Borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonyl trifluoromethanesulfonate has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by reacting with nucleophilic sites on peptidoglycans and other bacterial cell wall constituents, including amino acids such as lysine and arginine, and sugar moieties such as glucosamine, galactosamine and mannosamine. The reaction between the borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonyl group and the nucleophilic site generates an enolate intermediate which reacts with the electrophilic triflic acid to form the product 9-borabicyclo[3
