Potassium 7-Hydroxy-1-naphthalenesulfonate is a compound that has been shown to have antibacterial activity. The compound is a protonated form of the conjugate base, which is the ionized form of the molecule. It has an ionic charge of +1 and an electrostatic charge of -1. This compound binds to DNA, preventing bacterial growth by inhibiting transcription and replication. The protonated form can be converted back to the neutral form by recombination or transfer reactions.
