Descripción:Fridamycin A is a novel antibiotic that was discovered in a soil sample from the Arctic region of Norway. It has inhibitory activity against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis, and Gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli. The structure of Fridamycin A is made up of two pyridine rings that are fused together with a central sulfur atom to form a bicyclic ring system. Fridamycin A also has an antidiabetic effect due to its inhibition of the uptake of glucose into cells by activating AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK).
