Cyclomusalenone is a steroidal alkaloid that is found in the plant Sapientum. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antiparasitic effects in vitro. Cyclomusalenone has been studied for its toxicity in mice, where it was found to be nontoxic at doses up to 5000 mg/kg body weight. In addition, cyclomusalenone inhibits the growth of leishmania parasites and has also been shown to be effective against malaria. This compound may act as an insect repellent due to its strong insecticidal properties. The chemical composition of cyclomusalenone is not yet known, but it is suspected that it contains fatty alcohols.
