Bis(3-hydroxypropyl)disulfide is an anion that contains a mercapto group, a hydroxy group, and a deformation. This molecule has acidic properties and can be found in the form of particles. Bis(3-hydroxypropyl)disulfide's chemical formula is HS-CH2-CH2-OH. It is made up of two parts: sulfide (sulphur) and hydroxyl (oxygen). The sulfide part makes the molecule acidic, while the hydroxyl part gives it basic properties. When bis(3-hydroxypropyl)disulfide is mixed with potassium phosphate (KH2PO4), it will form a disulfide bond. This reaction will produce heat and light as byproducts. The pH for this reaction will be between 2 and 7.
