The reaction yield is dependent on the solvent, with higher yields obtained in n-dimethyl formamide than in dichloromethane. 3-Nitro-4-chloro-benzotrifluoride has been investigated for its potential use in cancer therapy. It inhibits the proliferation of a number of cancer cells, including resistant mutants. The deuterium isotope effect has also been used to determine the mechanism of action of 3-nitro-4-chloro benzo trifluoride.
