It is hydrolyzed by trifluoroacetic acid, which can lead to uptake of the compound into cells. The hydroxy group on 3-chloro-1-propanesulfonyl chloride allows for hydrogen bonding with other molecules, such as fatty acids and matrix metalloproteinases.
