Descripción

Calycosin is a naturally occurring compound that can be found in the plant Trifolium pratense, Maackia amurensis and other plants. Calycosin inhibits the growth of tumor cells by inducing apoptosis through the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria to cytosol. This compound has also been shown to have estrogenic effects, which may be an explanation for its anti-tumor activity. Calycosin has been shown to inhibit lipid droplets accumulation in fat cells and decrease obesity. It also targets brain tumors, inhibiting their growth and inducing apoptosis. Calycosin has been shown to have cytotoxic activity against human glioblastoma cells and adipose tissue.
