4-[(3-Chloro-4-fluorophenyl)amino]-6-[(3-pyridinylmethyl)amino]-1,7-naphthyridine-3-carbonitrile (LFMN) is a drug that has been shown to inhibit the growth of renal cell cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. LFMN binds to the nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer of activated B cells (NFKBIA), which is involved in inflammation and autoimmune diseases. LFMN also inhibits the production of IL17a, a cytokine that stimulates the proliferation of T cells and plays a role in inflammatory diseases. The mechanism by which LFMN inhibits NFKB1A activation is not well understood, but it is believed that its effects are due to inhibition of protein synthesis.
