It has been shown to react with hydrogen fluoride and chlorine in the liquid phase at temperatures below -78°C, producing cyanogen chloride. 2-Chloroheptafluoropropane is also known to react with gamma-aminobutyric acid in xenopus oocytes to produce chloride ions.
