4-Chlorothiobenzamide is a chemical compound that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity. It is a nucleophilic agent that reacts with the hydrogen on the carbon atom of an organic molecule. The chloro-substituent attacks the hydrogen from the neighboring carbon atom, breaking one or two bonds and forming new ones in their place. This reaction results in a new molecule with an alkyl group attached to the chlorine atom. 4-Chlorothiobenzamide can be used as an alternative treatment for fluconazole-resistant strains of Candida albicans and other yeast infections.
