S-(Chloromethyl) (6alpha,11alpha,16alpha,17alpha)-6,9-difluoro-11,17-dihydroxy-16-methyl-3-oxoandrosta-1,4-diene-17-carbothioate is a synthetic drug used to treat autoimmune diseases and cardiac hypertrophy. It is also used in the diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmia and inflammatory diseases. This drug has been shown to work by inhibiting fatty acid biosynthesis and reducing cholesterol levels. S-(Chloromethyl) (6α,11α,16α,17α)-6,9-difluoro-11,17-dihydroxy-16 methyl -3 oxoandrosta 1 4 diene 17 carbothioate may also have antiinflammatory effects as it inhibits prostaglandin synthesis.
