Calconcarboxylic acid is a chemical compound that is used in wastewater treatment. It is a derivative of the carboxylic acid family and has the general formula CH3CO2H. Calconcarboxylic acid can be synthesized by reacting anhydrous sodium carbonate with fatty acids or ethylene diamine. The reaction yields a white solid that can be purified by filtration, recrystallization, or chromatography. This chemical compound has been shown to have potent antagonistic effects against psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia. Calconcarboxylic acid works by blocking the binding of dopamine receptors at synapses in the brain, which reduces neurotransmission and prevents psychotic episodes from occurring.
