2-Chloro-N-[4-(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3-thiazol-2-yl]acetamide is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to have potent anti-leishmanial activity. It has been used in the treatment of Leishmania amazonensis and L. braziliensis, which are parasites that cause leishmaniasis. 2-Chloro-N-[4-(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3-thiazol-2-yl]acetamide is a cytotoxic agent that can kill cells through lysis or apoptosis. This drug is also active against insects such as the housefly. 2CAT has been shown to inhibit the growth of several bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, which may be due to its ability to bind with DNA and RNA.
