2-Chloro-N-(4-nitrophenyl)acetamide is a hydrogen bond acceptor that is used in the synthesis of vitamin B1. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in experimental systems and has been studied computationally to understand its potential as a drug for cancer therapy. 2-Chloro-N-(4-nitrophenyl)acetamide binds to DNA and inhibits the synthesis of RNA, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with the phosphate groups in DNA. This leads to a change in the conformation of DNA and prevents it from being transcribed into RNA.
