This synthetic intermediate is used for cross-coupling reactions with various nucleophiles such as hydroxide, iodine, and aryl iodides. 2-[(4-Chlorophenyl)thio]aniline reacts with benzothiazole to form a sulfide ligand that has been shown to catalyze the coupling of tetrabutylammonium with butadiene.
