6-Chloro-1,3-benzoxazol-2-amine (6CBA) is the organic compound with the formula CHClN. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in most organic solvents and decomposes in water. 6CBA has been used as a precursor to ethylene, which is a chemical used to produce polyethylene. 6CBA also catalyzes the reaction of propionate and benzoate, which produces hydrochloric acid (HCl). This acid reacts with bromophenol and cyanogen to form bromobenzene. The bromobenzene then reacts with sulphonate and maleate to form benzenesulfonic acid and benzoic acid respectively. 6CBA can be recycled by dissolving it in an organic solvent such as benzene or chloroform, neutralizing it with metal salts such as sodium hydroxide or potassium carbonate, adding bromophen
