3-Cyclohexyl-2-thioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one is a heterocyclic compound that inhibits the growth of bacteria. It binds to DNA in an electrophilic reaction and causes damage to the bacterial cell membrane. 3CYCTT has been shown to inhibit the growth of fungi and may be used as an antifungal agent. This compound has also been shown to have antibacterial properties, which are due to its ability to stabilize the bacterial cell membrane and cause a conformational change in the cell wall. 3CYCTT has been shown to be active against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolates and other antibiotic resistant bacteria, such as Enterococcus faecalis.
