Información del producto
6-Chloro-2-methylindole is a neurotoxic compound that belongs to the indole class. It is an analog of serotonin, which is found in plants and animals. 6-Chloro-2-methylindole has been shown to cause neurotoxic effects in rats by altering 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) levels in the brainstem and cerebral cortex. This compound also has a toxic effect on the brainstem when injected intraperitoneally or into the cerebral ventricles of experimental animals. 6CMI was also observed to have significant neurotoxic effects in the brains of rats after it was injected intraperitoneally or into the cerebral ventricles.
6CMI inhibits 5HT synthesis through oxidative deamination and thus leads to depletion of this neurotransmitter from nerve terminals and consequent central nervous system depression. In addition, 6CMI may act as a false neurotransmitter at postsynaptic receptors in some cases, thereby
