6-Chloro-1-methyl-1H-benzo[d][1,3]oxazine-2,4-dione is a diphenol that can be used as a plasticizer. It is a colorless solid with a melting point of 136 °C and a density of 1.5 g/cm3. This compound has been shown to have good compatibility with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and polystyrene (PS) resin. 6-Chloro-1-methyl-1H-benzo[d][1,3]oxazine-2,4-dione is also soluble in ethers and chlorinated hydrocarbons. It is produced by the reaction of epichlorohydrin with phenol or aniline in the presence of potassium carbonate or potassium hydroxide as catalyst.
