4-(4-Chlorophenyl)piperidine is a piperidine molecule that is an amine and wake-promoting agent. It has affinity for the serotonin transporter and has been shown to be a potent antagonist of serotonin. 4-(4-Chlorophenyl)piperidine is an isomer of modafinil, which has been shown to optimize cognition, memory, and mood in healthy volunteers. The hydroxyl group on the 4-(4-chlorophenyl)piperidine molecule allows for the interaction with dopamine receptors and may also be responsible for its antidepressant properties.
