3-Chloropropydimethylvinylsilane is a conformationally constrained analog of propylene. It has been used as a substrate for the synthesis of heterocycles, such as indoles and pyrazoles, by the cyclization of 3-chloro-propylidene-1,2-diol with electron-deficient alkenes. 3-Chloropropydimethylvinylsilane can also be used to synthesize halogenated compounds by reacting with electrophiles in a substitution reaction. The spectroscopy of 3-chloropropydimethylvinylsilane is characterized by infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
