- 1,2,4-Triazine, 3-Chloro-6-Phenyl-
3-Chloro-6-phenyl-1,2,4-triazine (3CPA) is a nitrogen containing compound that can be used as a chemical intermediate. It has been shown to react irreversibly with alkylamines in the presence of low temperatures. 3CPA reacts with dimethylamine and phenylacetonitrile to give 3,6-dichloro-N,N-dimethylbenzamide (DDMBA) and 3,6-dichloro-N-(2'-chlorophenyl)benzamide (DCPA), respectively. The molecular structure of 3CPA is similar to that of the nucleophilic triazine compounds. The nmr spectra show that the exocyclic methylene protons are not involved in the reaction mechanism. This indicates that the nucleophilic attack occurs at a position on the ring other than carbon atom number three. In this process, an alky
