3-Chloro-4,5-dihydroxybenzaldehyde is an industrial chemical used in the manufacture of dechlorinated solvents. This compound has been shown to have an anti-obesity effect by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis and reducing weight gain in mice. 3-Chloro-4,5-dihydroxybenzaldehyde inhibits the production of trihydroxybenzenes, which are reactive molecules that can cause lipid peroxidation. It also has a chloride ion binding affinity and can be used as a corrosion inhibitor. The redox potential of this molecule is -0.21 V. This product is not hazardous.
