Cyclobutanecarboxaldehyde has been shown to be effective against autoimmune diseases and cancer, as it inhibits the proliferation of T cells and enhances the activity of natural killer cells. It also has an inhibitory effect on viruses such as influenza virus, and can be used for the treatment of bowel disease. Cyclobutanecarboxaldehyde has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on hematopoietic cells through FT-IR spectroscopy, which may be due to its ability to interact with bromodomain proteins.
