Descripción

1-Chloro-2-methylanthraquinone is a substance with the molecular formula C9H7ClO2. It is an aromatic compound that consists of two rings, one ethyl group, and one amino group. This chemical has been shown to be a condensation product of 1-chloro-2-(ethoxycarbonyl)anthraquinone and ethyl aminothiocyanate. The chlorination and nitration reactions produce the nucleus for this substance. Copper(II) ion is then used to catalyze the reaction between ethyl anthranilate and chlorobenzene, forming 1-chloro-2-methylanthraquinone. The acid ethyl ester group on this molecule can be converted into an acid sulphonic group through sulphonation with sulfur dioxide.
