4-Chloropyridine-2-carbonylchloride is a potent antitumor agent that belongs to the class of quinoline derivatives. It has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis and cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo. The antitumor activity of 4-Chloropyridine-2-carbonylchloride may be due to its ability to inhibit the activation of growth factors such as epidermal growth factor (EGF). 4-Chloropyridine-2-carbonylchloride also inhibits DNA synthesis by inhibiting the activity of DNA polymerase alpha. This compound binds to surface methodology on cells, which may explain its potent antitumor activity.
