Cyclohexyl cyclohexanecarboxylate is a liquid crystal that can be used as a reactive liquid. It is synthesized by the reaction of piperidine with chlorobenzene and cyclohexanol in the presence of fluorine. Cyclohexyl cyclohexanecarboxylate has been shown to have a high birefringence, which makes it useful for liquid crystal devices.
