6-Chloro-5-methyl-3,6-dihydropyridazin-3-amine is a drug that blocks voltage-dependent calcium channels and has been shown to have antiepileptic activity. It is also known by the trade name gatifloxacin. 6-chloro-5-methylpyridazin 3,6 diamine is a novel subtype selective blocker of voltage dependent Ca2+ channels with antiseizure and antiepileptic activity. The drug was observed to be effective against the thalamic ventrobasal subtype of generalized epilepsy and the strain specific form of partial epilepsy. The mechanism of action of this drug is not fully understood, but it is thought that it may block the opening or closing of voltage dependent Ca2+ channels in neurons.
