The chemical formula for this compound is C8H5ClN2O4. 2-(3-Chloro-2-oxopropyl)isoindoline-1,3-dione can be synthesized by the reaction of 2 moles of quaternary ammonium chloride with 1 mole of hydrochloric acid and 1 mole of alkyl halide. 2-(3-Chloro-2-oxopropyl)isoindoline-1,3-dione can also be synthesized by the dehydration of an intramolecular cyclization reaction between an alkyl halide and a dihydroimidazothiazole.
