Calcitriol D6 is rapidly metabolized by esterases to form calcitriol, the active form. The metabolism of this drug can be inhibited by fatty acid polyunsaturated, which may lead to an increase in its plasma half-life. This drug has been shown to have bioequivalence with natural calcitriol.
