Cyclopropaneacetaldehyde is a reactive hydroxy group-containing compound. It is an organic ester that can be used as an antimicrobial agent. Cyclopropaneacetaldehyde has been shown to have pesticidal activity against insects, mites, and other arthropods, although it is not active against nematodes. This ester is also a precursor for the synthesis of heterocycles by oxidation with a transition metal catalyst. Cyclopropaneacetaldehyde has been found to be highly toxic to cancer cells in vitro.
