Descripción:2-Chloroethyl chloroformate is a chemical reagent that is used in the pharmaceutical industry. It reacts with metal carbonyls to form quaternary ammonium salts, which are used as catalysts for organic reactions. 2-Chloroethyl chloroformate has been shown to inhibit the ns3 protease of HIV and other types of cancer cells. In vivo, it inhibits locomotor activity by acting on gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the brain. 2-Chloroethyl chloroformate is also an acylation agent and can be used to add a fatty acid or nitro group to compounds in a 5-membered heterocyclic ring. This compound can also be used as a solvent for hydrochloric acid and an oxidizing agent for hydroxyl groups.
