It has been shown to be effective in vivo models for chronic schizophrenia and has shown promising results in clinical trials with drug-naive patients. Cianopramine also inhibits the binding of drugs such as clomipramine and other tricyclic antidepressants to their receptor sites. In addition, cianopramine is a bicyclic heterocycle that binds to the human serum albumin with high affinity and specificity.
